So one year later...
A config file for each image will be needed to set this up correctly (to precise what should be the top left corner and so on).
The Teeworlds map editor hasn't been improved since a long time even if it isn't friendly and easy to use at all. The 0.6 will bring a new version of it, that will make the map making faster and simplier.
First of all, the Save function have been (finally!) implemented, I don't know why it haven't been before. Furthermore, two functions were added: an auto-border and the ability to paint rectangles or patterns, and it's only the beginning of many upcoming changes.
Auto-border:
Pattern tool (shift + click):
The 0.6 development is progressing as shown in the trac timeline, many tickets were added recently by Rajh. Indeed, Rajh isn't a developer but he contributes to the Teewords' development finding bugs and even sometimes fixing them. These last bugs have been found mainly by kaddy and Ubu though, who are helping devs in their way. You can help us as well, joining #teeworlds-dev channel on quakenet and reporting bugs. Besides, it will be a lot more effective than posting here which is a very old spammed thread that should be cleaned. However, the dev channel isn't the place for suggestions, the right place is here (hm...).
The Teeworlds' smoke effects are simple, white for projectile trails, and some grey for explosions. However, it was pretty different before, but not cute enough in my opinion. Thus, as you can guess, I tried to make the smoke a bit more "realistic".

Well the explosion looks a lot better in game. I might include this in the next version if I get positive opinions.
Edit : here is a video.
Well, development is a bit frozen lately, but matricks told us he was working on a general file downloading system. Currently, Teeworlds only allows map transfer and the Main dev wants to allow any file downloading as well, like sounds, images, maybe scripts, etc.
But there is a problem, how to check those files ? They could be viruses or inappropriate pictures or sounds, it even could be advertising. Players should have the choice to download or not, and a server rating system would prevent the user from bad content.
I understand that creating a such system makes the mod development easier, but as matricks always said : "We don't support mods", so why now ?
You can't bear that nameless tees join your server ? This feature is for you. The idea is to put an indicative icon of the server's recommanded level: newbie, middle and pro. Many games already include this option, and the aim isn't to forbid the access to some severs, it's only to prevent players that a server fit or not their playing level. Well there is of course the problem of dumb admins who will set all their servers' level to pro, but I think such admins are in the minority.

Notice that I made modded servers grey instead of putting a non visible enough icon on the left.
Well, I did not include this level feature into 0.6 yet, I look foward your feedback :).
I recently decided to rework my old ZBots. You certainly all know the last version of them, hosted by Sushi, when they were fighting on ctf4.They were quite weak and really stupid. My final aim is to give them a "brain", and the first step was to make bots aware that they had to survive. In fact in the last version, their only objective was to kill, so they were kinda like kamikazes sometimes. Their weakness came from speed lack as well, a ZBot captured a flag two times slower than a normal player.
After some hours of thinking, coding and testing, a new ZBot is born. He can now "survive" but still without plaiyng lame (of course), taking dynamicly pickups and hooking a lot better. Well those are just words, the best way to have an idea of my work is to fight a ZBot, Lord. You can easily find the server hosted by Sushi (big thanks to him) by searching "ZBots". Oh and just a thing I forgot, ZBots HATE humans :).
There is currently only one powerup in Teeworlds : the Ninja.
![]()
A fast weapon which causes a lot of damage but a bit hard to handle against good players. In my opinion, we could improve it by restoring the velocity the player had before fireing.
It is a pretty cool powerup, but who really use it ? On "pro" servers, Ninja is disabled whereas on others it is often enabled. Thus we need one (or more) powerup which fit this "pro" way of playing. Ubu thought to a x2 damage powerup which get dropped when the player die, like in Quake or Ut. A double damage is a bit high though (a kill with each grenade), x1.5 should be fine. I also found some great ones :).
x1.5 damage
Hm the name is explicit enough.
Vampire
You get a part of the life you take from the opponent.
Freezer
Slow down all players in a quite large radius (nearer they are, slower they become).
All can be dropped if the owner dies and has limited duration.
Hi readers.
Today I am going to show you the probably new ctf1. Yesterday I was talking with Ubu (don't ask me why i can't remember) and he told me that ctf1new was a great map, really better than ctf1. I finally managed to find it and we started to modify it, strating with a nice base. After some hours of work with Ubu we tested it with a couple of good players and the result is very concluding. They all want this map instead of the classical ctf1.
Well enough blabla here are 2 screenshots :

I contacted chi1 then, and had a very interesting discussion with him. He seems to like the map but does not want to replace ctf1 byt this map, for the moment. He proposed to include this map in the next release and watch if ctf1_reworked is more played than ctf1 and only after, replace it.
Chi1 told me that a ctf6 is also planned (a 8on8 map), and the official mapper did already 10 major versions of this upcoming map. However he did not strated yet to improve ctf4. But he's not alone, you, we, the comunity can help him. We can make a new ctf4, keeping its main ideas. We have to think about something really new, and not copy ctf2. As said Golv, try. You may fail, many times, but in conclusion, after many tests, with others contribution, you can make something really great.
I wait your comments about this map, and don't hesitate to replace ctf1 on your servers by this one. Thanks again to Ubu, Somerunce, Chi1, and all testers.
